I’ve stayed twice, for a week each time, at the lovely Demeure d’Aliénor with my wife and two children. A fantastic experience each time! It is located in a small hamlet bordering protected land, where we take long late-morning walks every day. Then back to our house for lunch, relaxing afternoons and a dip in the pool. The house and its kitchen are very well-equipped, nothing at all was lacking. We go to the Super U in Mirambeau (20-minute drive) upon arrival to stock up on food, then every two days or so to a nearby superette (10-minute drive). There’s a great bakery close by with excellent bread and galettes charentais (delicious at breakfast)! The owners – a lovely Belgian couple -- are very attentive without being obtrusive. The property houses a stork refuge. It’s just magical watching these beautiful birds coming and going. One feels that the whole place is a labor of love. We are made to feel so welcome. We look forward to coming back this summer and have already booked our week.
